Welcome to the Cambridge Phil's web site!

Here you can find a message of welcome from our Conductor, information about the Society, including how to join, and a brief history.

You can read biographical notes on Timothy Redmond (our conductor), Stephen Bingham (our orchestral leader), and Christopher Whitton (our chorus master).

Please see the programme page for details of all our concerts.

We also have an online archive of the programmes from previous years, including a number of press reviews. It currently goes back to 1998.

News

  • February 2008: We are delighted to welcome our new Chairman, Robert Hook. Cambridge born and bred, Rob started out as an engineer then moved into venture capital, and has been very much involved with the rapid growth of technology companies in Cambridge since the early seventies. Currently Chairman of DFJ Esprit Capital Partners – just voted Venture Capital House of the year by the European Venture Capital Association – Rob’s passions are the piano, which he plays as often as he can, fast cars and gardening. Rob and his wife Janet have four children and six grandchildren. Of his appointment, Rob says: “I'm very honoured and excited about my new role with the Philharmonic. The Society has a great history and tradition and I hope I can play a small part in ensuring that it continues to enjoy the leading role in Cambridge's music scene it has enjoyed over the years.”
