Carlos Nogueira - Tenor

Carlos Nogueira started his singing studies in Portugal with Inês Sofia and António Salgado. He completed a BMus Honours at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, tutored by Peter Wilson, and there won the Norma Greig French Song Prize and the Stenvenson Scholarship. He obtained a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance with Distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he presently studies on the 2nd year Opera Course, under Laura Sarti’s guidance, supported by the Worshipful Companies of Plumbers and Upholders, the Leverhulme Trust, the Music Students' Hostel Trust and Il Circolo Cultural Foundation.

Operatic roles include Prince Ali in Gluck’s La Rencontre Imprévue, Conte Alberto in Rossini’s L’occasione fa il ladro, Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan Tutte, Charlie and Son I in Weill’s Mahagonny Songspiel and Sieben Todsünden, Priest and Armed Man in Mozart’s Zauberflöte, Diener III in R.Strauss’ Capriccio and excerpts from the operas Albert Herring, Alcina, Barbiere di Siviglia, D. Giovanni, Falstaff (RAH), L’Elisir d’Amore, La Finta Giardinera, L’Italiana in Algeri, Midsummer Marriage and Roméo et Juliette.

Oratorio solos comprise Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St.Mathew Passion, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, Berlioz’ L’Enfance du Christ and Haydn’s Creation, amongst others.

Carlos was a member of the Bayreuther Festspiele Chor 2006, 2007 and 2008 singing Lehrbuben in Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Future engagements include Guide in The King goes forth to France and Edoardo in La Cambiale di Matrimonio, GSMD (March and June 2009) and Samling Foundation Masterclasses (November 2009).
