A Night at the Opera
West Road Concert Hall
Sunday 25 November 2007
I attended the above concert last night at the West Road Concert Hall. I thought I should write to you about the concert to say could you arrange another ‘Night at the Opera’, and soon!
I spent almost two and a half hours totally spellbound. Christopher Whitton’s choir were magnificent. Their renderings of the Anvil Chorus and the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves were stupendous. Having decided they couldn’t top those performances, they went on to do more of the same in the Bizet/Carmen works. As a learner on the first steps of classical guitar, I am filled with admiration when watching true professionals at work. Cam-Phil, Timothy Redmond and Stephen Bingham have my gratitude for making every aspect of the evening comprehensibly memorable and a must for the calendar in the future. And Heather Shipp − well, I am lost for words. She has a voice to die for, and every note she sung had me tingling from the tips of my toes to the topmost hair on my head.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Cam-Phil. I look forward to the next time, when I shall be boring my friends to death by saying you must not miss this occasion.
